February 20th 1980 Sir Charles Villiers in a fighting mood - An angry Sir Charles Villiers, chairman of the British Steel Corporation, last night named Mr. Prior Employment Secretary, as the source of reports that the Government planned to retire him early as Chairman of British Steel and find a foreign replacement. He also blamed Mr. Prior for triggering earlier speculation that the Government was going to do a "silent policy U-turn'' and intervene in the steel strike to produce a quick settlement. Photo Shows: Sir Charles Villiers in a fighting mood during his press conference at the British Steel Corporation headquarters in London yesterday.
