First direct peace talks in Geneva on July 3rd the Iranian foreign minister Ali Akbar velayati (right) and Iraqi foreign minister tareq aziz (left) held their first direct peace talks since the gulfwar ended nearly two years ago. U.n. secretary general Javier Perez De cellular (center) had arranged this meeting, hoping the relations between the two countries would improve considerably.
