Launching the tanker "Sir Winston Churchill": The 95,000-ton tanker, "Sir Winston Churchill", was launched yesterday at Syan Hunter and Wigham Richards Yard, at Wallsend. Spectators climbed a nearby wall to watch the monster tanker which slid into the Tyne with very little margin to spare. Mrs. Beryl Maudling performed the launching ceremony.
