27-5-63 Mr. Marples launches campaign for safety helmets - Transport Minister Mr. Ernest Marples today launched a six-month campaign to encourage motor cyclist to wear safety helmets. The Minister has the power to make the wearing of safety helmets compulsory, but wants to try to persuade motor cyclists to wear them voluntarily.
