11-10-61 Transport Minister stops for a "Tea BreaK'' starts to work on Tyne Road Tunnel - Mr. Ernest Marples the Transport Minister yesterday cut the first sods to start work on the new £12,300,000 Tyne Road Tunnel. The Minister afterwards drank tea brewed by the workers on the site. Keystone Photo Shows: Mr. Ernest Marples receives his tea from the can after the opening ceremony on Tyneside.
