1958 Press Photo Satellite nose of Jupiter C rocket launched at Cape Canaveral

Description
This is the satellite nose of the Jupiter C rocket launched here today in an effort to put a second US satellite into orbit. The oxide striped part is the satellite itself and the white tube below it is the final stage rocket. Fine wires are the antenna for the satellite's radio systems. The white objects at right are holes in the service gantry and structure at left is one of work platforms on the gantry.
