Carl Sandburg, the prairie poet and historian, strums his guitar for some of the 500 friends and admirers who honored him tonight with a 75th birthday celebration. Left to right: Sandburg, Ralph Newman, chairman of the sponsoring committee; Mrs. Sandburg; and Erik Boheman, Swedish ambassador to the United States. The Sandburgs came here from their Flat Rock, North Carolina, home for the celebration.
