1966 Press Photo Second Street-Butler Street View where water starts to recede

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
The Ohio River waters were starting to recede after this picture was taken of the Second Street-Butler Street intersection of Marietta, looking south toward the Williamstown, W. Marietta bridge over the river. It's a familiar sight to local residents during times of high water and looked upon as a nuisance rather than a real flood threat. The swollen Ohio River crested in Marietta Tuesday night.

Photo measures 10.25 x 7.5 inches.

Photo is dated 02-16-1966.
