1971 Press Photo John D. Rockefeller-Antique table brings $410,000 at auction.

This 18th century mahogany and kingwood marquetry table was bought by an unnamed private collector in New York, Saturday, just $5,000 short of the record for a piece of furniture sold at an auction. The ormolu-rimmed table with a sliding top, once owned by the Marquise de Pompadour, was auctioned by Parke-Bernet Galleries, as part of the estate of Martha Baird Rockefeller. second wife of John D. Rockefeller Jr.
