Yoruba: Nine Centuries of African Art and Thought Octoer 10-December 9, 1990 Upper Half of a Figure, Owo, 12th-15th century. This is the upper half of what appears to have been a male figure. It is barechested with a collarlike necklace and bracelets covering the forearms. There is a strand of large beads around the waist. The face has a high forehead, a short chin, and wide-set, almond-shaped eyes. Terracotta. H. 9-13/16 in. National Commission for Museums and Monuments, Nigeria. Photo: Jerry L. Thompson.
