Tran Thanh Vui watches his wife prepare"banh Cuon," a popular snack, at their Saigon street stall. With the income from the stall and his work as a painter and carpenter, the couple tries to save 500 piasters (just over $1) a day to pay off debts. The onetime farmer still dreams of returning to the tranquility of his abandoned farm.
