The Porsche 924 Turbo whispers from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about nine seconds and reaches a top speed of almost 140 mph. Amazingly, the New Turbo is still stingy on gas during recent tests by the Environmental Protection Agency, the 924 Turbo delivered an astounding 31 miles per gallon on the highway and 19 mpg around town.
The broad flexibility of the Turbo engine is due to the fact that the turbocharger just "idles" along during normal cruising but, on acceleration, can easily provide a 50% boost in horsepower and torque.
