World Leader-- More Toyota Corollas were built in 1980 than any other type of car, making it the world's most popular car for the second consecutive year. The Corolla was the only import among the 1980's 10 best sellers in the U.S. A record 771,720 Corollas were built which was 250,000 more than its nearest rival. The fuel-efficient Corolla series was developed by Toyota to appeal to the world's variety of drivers and includes 2- and 4- door sedan, sport coupe, liftback, station wagon and the new 2-door hardtop models.
