FIVE IN FIFTY -- Ford's standard-size car line will undergo its fifth major engineering and design change in 50 years this fall. The 1979-model LTD Landau's dual rectangular headlamps and chrome-plated grille contrast sharply with the front-end treat of the Model A Ford that made its debut in 1928. Other benchmark designs include the 1932 Ford V-8, the 1949 Ford and the 1965 Ford. The totally re-engineered 1979 models will have more leg room, knee room and front hip room than this year's LTD, in addition to more luggage space.
