Country Club of Birmingham - The summer social season opened Friday evening at Country Club of Birmingham when 46 young women bowed at the 19th annual Ball of Roses. Following their 8 pm formal presentation, the debs, their escorts, families and friends danced to the music of Lester Lanin and his society orchestra from New York. Pictured before the presentation is Lysbeth Dabney Kent the newly-elected president of the Birmingham Debutante Club, and her father, Dr. Raleigh B. Kent.
