Description
High winds ripped through Montgomery Sunday afternoon creating havoc. This house in Heatherton Heights was one of about 10 which were severely damaged. It appeared heaviest damage occurred at the Field Crest Apartments, where this car was rolled over by high winds. The storm apparently worked its way from the south entering Montgomery at the Southern bypass, skipping through the Vaughn Road area over to Perry Hill Road and Green Acres and dipping down again in the Gunter Park Industrial Park section. About 13 people were treated at St. Margaret's Hospital emergency room. Five of them were hospitalized. The Disaster Emergency unit of the American Red Cross said 90 apartments at Field Crest were damaged. Without complete reports in Sunday night the Red Cross said roofs were blown off as many as 10 houses in all areas of the city where the storm came through (Montgomery, Alabama) (Disaster-tornadoes)
