Medical Center East, the $45 million, 282-bed facility that will replace East End Memorial Hospital in East Lake, nears completion on its 300-acre site in Huffman. The 10-story hospital, left, is connected by a covered crosswalk with the professional office building. East End officials say the move from their present home, which opened its doors in September 1946, will take place December 8.
