Montgomery businessman and Republican candidate for lieutenant governor John Giles will hold a news conference on Thursday January 6,1994 at 10 a.m. in the main lobby of the Alabama Statehouse to discuss education reform. Giles has urged a return to the teaching of basics in education as part of his "Back to Basics" campaign theme. He also has voiced support for a pilot program to test parental choice in a few counties in Alabama.
