The University of Alabama in Birmingham, UAB, is moving ahead with tearing down the old Jefferson County Health Department building on Eighth Avenue between 19th and 20th streets south. Doctor Sam Wallace Junior went to court to try to stop the tearing-down, but a ruling in Jefferson County Circuit Court allowed demolition of the building.
