1983 Press Photo Voters line up at Harrison Park Community Center, Polls Open

Voters line up at Harrison Park Community Center shortly after the polls opened at 7 am today to cast ballots in the Birmingham mayoral and city council election. About 40 people were lined up awaiting a turn at the ballot box when voting began at the West End location. About the time darkness settles over the city tonight, polls will begin closing. Then the vote tallying will begin. All of the candidates will be having parties for their bakers and well wishers.
