1979 Press Photo Birmingham sends food to Mobile for Hurricane Frederic victims

Food for storm victims - A truckload of food collected locally left Birmingham earlier today for the Mobil area to help feed thousands of victims of Hurricane Frederic. Members of the Westwood Civil Defense unit and other volunteers Wednesday helped load an 18-wheeler donated by Osborne Truck Lines Inc. to carry the items to the disaster area. The loading was done at Legion Field, which was being used as a central collection point for the food effort (Birmingham, Alabama) (Hurricanes-Frederic) (Disasters)
