Alabama-Birmingham-This is the charred reclining chair in which Frank Bonner apparently fell asleep while smoking early Saturday morning. The cigarette apparently ignited the chair, said Chief John Wallace of the Center Point Fire Department. Bonner, apparently awakened, found the chair and den ablaze and tried to escape by kicking out a window. When he did, the entire rear of the house burst into flames. Bonner and his wife, Eva Jean Bonner, both died in the blaze. Their 14 year old son, Terry, escaped unharmed. The Bonners lived at 401 23rd Avenue NW in Center Point. Photo measures 9.25 x 7.5inches.
