Mayer (top) ran MGM for nearly 25 years, and Irving Thalberg (bottom, with Manon Davies as she signs her contract) was an executive producer for more than 12 years at MGM and produced such classics as the 1926 silent Ben-Hur and Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), starring Clark Gable. Premieres Tuesday, August 8 at 9 p.m.(ET).
