1934 Press Photo Concrete Jetties Being Built by CCC Workers at Sheridan Park

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Concrete caissons for the jetties being built at Sheridan Park are made in the forms in the foreground. One is shown being hoisted into a truck. Some of the Jetties may be seen jutting out into Lake Michigan. The theory is that the waves hitting the jetties will drop their load of sand and build up sand bars which will protect the bluffs. The project is a national park service job done by C.C.C. labor. Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Photo is dated 1934.

Photo measures 10.5 x 7.5 inches.
