Description
Frankfurt, Germany. Two pretty blonde little Hessian girls, on a visit to Frankfurt, caught everyone's eye with their richly embroidered traditional native costumes. They come from a district of Germany near Marsurg. The dresses are trimmed with hand-made lace -- created by the girls' mothers. When the young ladies are old enough to master the craft themselves, they will be their own dressmakers, fitting themselves and someday their children with the costumes. Their hair is wound into knots and covered under hoods worn tight around the head. people, children.

Photo is dated 1952.
