This favorite Yosemite National Park vista from the east portal of the Wawona Tunnel on the Fresno-Yosemite Highway is very much like the first glimpse President Kennedy will get of the park late Friday afternoon when he arrives in the Valley by helicopter from nearby Castle Air Force Base. At left is the huge granite mass of El Capitan, and at right Bridalveil Falls. In background at left center is the upper portion of Half Dome, another Valley landmark. The President and his party will spend the night at Yosemite.
