1962 Press Photo U.S. Marines in Thailand inside shelters they devised

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Udorn, Thailand: Looking more like preparation for a home and garden contest than a war, these U.S. Marines have devised elaborate shelters as they prepare for the coming monsoon. Reading his paper in the somewhat shaded grove he created (Top) is PFC. Jerry Fritz of Logansport, Indiana. The signs on trees advise entrance is by invitation only. The off-the-ground three man shelter (Bottom) was the design of PFC. D.J. Byrnes (no home town available.) PFCs R.S. Lewis of Hammond, Indiana and E.B. Beekman of Columbus, Ohio share the shelter with Byrnes. --- (Thailand - Defense)
