United States Air Force Planes, Jets and Trainers: Los Angeles, California, with test pilot Ray Morris at the controls, North American Aviation's modified trans-sonic jet trainer takes to the air during a test flight. Designed for advance pilot training in high-speed flight, gunnery and dive bombing, the swift two-seat jet trainer is a modified version of the United States Air Force's Korea-famed F-86 Sabre Jet. The trainer is rated in the 650-mile-per-hour class, has a maximum service ceiling of 45,000 feet and combat radius of more than 600 statute miles.
