1966 Press Photo Tarahumara Indian Child in State of Starvation, Mexico

Description
This starving child, who is said to have died, is a member of the Tarahumara Indian tribe in Mexico. Father Luis Verplancken, who heads a mission at Creel, Mexico, took the picture to illustrate the tribe's need for food. Citizens of Lafayette, Louisiana are gathering train cars of food for shipment to them. Hunger.
