1951 Press Photo Construction on city's first off-street parking lot, Milwaukee

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
The first city owned off-street parking lot will be a reality. Work began on the lot in the triangle formed by N. 47th St., W. North Avenue, and W. Lisbon Avenue. The Transport Company waiting station will not be disturbed. A small area of grass with benches also will be left. The lot, which is city owned, will have 32 parking stalls. It was described as a "pilot" project for the other off street parking places to follow.

Photo is dated 1951.

Photo measures 10.75 x 8.25 inches.
