Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
A prolific female Darwin's rhea has stirred quite a commotion, plus a complication or two, at the Bronx zoo. The Argentina bird, a distant cousin of the ostrich, is the first Darwin's rhea to lay an eg at the zoo. She dropped her one two months ago, and ever since then has laid one every three days - 20 in all. (Birds)

Photo is dated 1953.

Photo measures 6.25 x 10.25 inches.
