1958 Press Photo New phone booth in Schweinfurt, Germany - KSG16865

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
The Post went new ways: Putting this telephon-cabine near the water-tower in Schweinfurt. The door is closed but instead of this a side-wall is removed. People who do not know what to do because the door is shut are appointed to enter the cabine on the side by a placard. We do not know the reason for the new cabine but there are some motivations: 1. More people will phone when they have not to open a door at first. 2. At fine weather it is possible to phone in the open air. 3. It is not so difficult to hear what other people have to phone and so on. Perhaps everybody will find himself some more reasons.

Photo is dated 1958.
