Here, soprano Birgit Nilsson makes a recording on an antique cylinder machine, in an attempt to "stump the experts." They eventually guessed the identity of the singer. (Above, left) From 1940, the intermission feature were produced by Souvaine Associates. After Henry Souvaine's death in 1954, his widow Geraldine Souvaine [above] assumed the role of producer and remained with the broadcast until 1981. (Above, right) Boris Goldovsky, opera impresario and conductor, has been a frequent guest and often hosted the feature Opera News on the Air.
