At left, Charles A. Lindbergh, wearing a borrowed suit of clothes, gets acclaim of Paris crowd after he had become the first man to fly solo non-stop from New York to Paris. Alongside Lindbergh is the late ambassador to France, Myron T. Herrick. At right, a closeup of Colonel Lindbergh in one of his more recent public appearances. It was 25 years ago today, on May 20, 1927, when the then 25 year old flier took off on his 33 1/2 hour history making flight.
