Description

In a private collection since 1861 - except for a brief exhibition in 1936 - this portrait of Abraham Lincoln has become part of the Chicago Historical Society's collection and will be on exhibit to the public starting Tuesday. Paul M. Angle of the society previews the unveiling. It is the earliest painting in the life of the Civil War President. It will be the portrait's first major showing.
