1954 Press Photo Eugene V. Dennett and Will Parry - spw02820

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Some scenes from the house un-American activities committee hearings in Seattle this week have been somewhat unusual. On the stand yesterday, Eugene V. Dennett, left, practices his knitting as he testifies. Dennett, a steel worker, denied he was a member of the communist party and explained he is knitting a stole. At the right, wearing a "Joe Must Go" pin, Will Parry, identified to the committee as an editor of the Northwest edition of the People's World, tells the committee he refuses to answer questions on Communist party affiliation on grounds it might incriminate him.

Photo measures 6.5 x 6.75 inches.

Photo is dated 6-15-1954.
