Description

NEW COACH -- Jim Lee Howell, 39, star player and assistant coach of the New York Giants of the National Football League, was named head of the club yesterday, succeeding Steve Owen. Howell signed a two-year contract for 1954 and 1955. With him is John Mara, president of the club. Howell played for the team from 1937 to 1948 as an end. The ball they hold carries the score of the Giants-Philadelphia Eagles game in 1937, first game Howell played for the Giants.
