1971 Press Photo Denny Zimmerman named rookie of the year, Indi. Motor Speedway

Auto Racing-Denny Zimmerman, 30, West Glastonbury, Conn., Sunday night was named rookie of the year in Saturday's 500-mile race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. His eighth-place finish was the highest by any of the four first-year starters in the 33-car field. Selection was made by a committee of newsmen and racing officials. Zimmerman received $1,000, a plaque and the 20-year-old trophy.
