1962 Press Photo Industrial Instrument founder Richard Shanks plans expansion

Richard E. (Dick) Shanks, N3421 Audubon, who founded his own business at 24 as a one-man operation, will move it to new quarters this week end. Getting the business going, Shanks says, was a struggle at first, About two years after its founding, however, Industrial Instrument got its first big order supplying the instruments needed in remodeling the old magnesium plant for Pacific Northwest Alloys' operations.
