Description
Governor Frank Clement of TN, who has been selected as keynoter for the National Democratic Convention in August. Clement's ability as a speaker is credited with a top role in getting him elected governor in 1952. He was 32 and the nation's youngest governor. Some of his friends see a possibility that his eloquent tongue night win him second place on the Democratic Presidential ticket. The young governor has been going places fast most of his life. He got his first lessons in public speaking while he was a boy, from an aunt who was an elocution teacher. He passed his state bar examination with top honors a year before he graduated in law at Vanderbilt University. He had to wait to reach 21 before he could practice.
