Description
The "Big Three" of the United Mine Workers' Union and almost equally "big" in the counsels of the C.I.O. are the three men pictured here. Left to right: Phillip Murray, vice president of the CIO and vice president of the United Mine Workers; John L. Lewis, president of the C.I.O. and president of the United Mine Workers Union and Thomas Kennedy, Secretary of the United Mine Workers. They are shown at the Chelsea Hotel in Atlantic City where they are attending current sessions of the executive committee of the C.I.O. opening Monday, November 18th. It is thought that President Lewis will not be a candidate for re election as leader of the C.I.O./ and either Murray or Kennedy might get the post.

Photo is dated 1940.

Photo measures 8.5 x 6.75 inches.
