Senator Dennis Chavez, former Democratic Representative, is presenting his credentials to vice president John Garner while Senator Joe Robinson looks on. Chavez was appointed by Governor Clyde Tingley of New Mexico, to succeed the late Senator Bronson Cutting, Independent Republican, in the upper house of the United States Congress. It was Mr. Chavez who ran against Cutting in 1934. Senator Cutting was killed in an airline crash at Atlanta, Missouri.
