The question currently before pollsters is George Romney incumbent Governor and considered by many to be a shoe in for reelection not only garner a large plurality but sweep other Republicans into office with him? Especially Senator Robert P Griffin? Appointed to the office only this past April 30 by the Governor upon the death of Senator Patrick V McNamara. Sen Griffin is 42 was co-author in Sept 1959 while a Congressman of the Landrum-Griffin Act which provided for the disclosure by labor and management of certain financial transactions. This may still leave him unpopular with Michigans unions. Former Governor G Mennem Soapy Williams is this years challenger renowned Democrat vote collector after six terms as Governor.
