1971 Press Photo Apollo 15 Lunar Module Pilot James Irwin at Kennedy Center

Kennedy Space Center, Florida - Apollo 15 Lunar Module Pilot James B. Irwin will be making his first space flight when he is launched to the Moon with Astronauts David R. Scott and Alfred M. Worden. Irwin and Scott will conduct three traverses of the Moon's Hadley-Apennine region while Worden maintains the command module in lunar orbit and conducts experiments. They will be launched to the Moon's no earlier than July 16, 1971.
