Description
Former Peace Corp Director--Carolyn Payton is the 53-year-old psychologist who was the Peace Corps' first black and first woman director. What was described as her forced resignation was announced by the White House last November, some thirteen months after she had taken over. Her departure was due to basic disagreement between Ms. Payton and Sam Brown, the director of ACTION, the Peace Corps' parent agency.
