Prince Escapes Laos -- Prince Panya, above, swam across the Mekong River before dawn Wednesday and asked for refuge in Thailand. The prince, second son of Prince Souvanna Phouma, premier of Laos, is shown with his bride, the former Salika Siddhisariputra, after their wedding in 1970. The prince apparently fled his country because of controls imposed on it by the Communist Pathet Lao since it took control (Thailand)
