Pleasant Mich.: Former White House Press Secretary Jerry terHorst, speaking to students at Central Michigan University in his first public appearance since resigning the White House post, said 10/22 the pardon granted former President Richard Nixon "smacked of pre-arranged deal." TerHorst also said Ford will not "drop" Vice-President-designate Nelson Rockefeller despite recent disclosures turned up in the Congressional investigation.Jerald Franklin "Jerry" terHorst (July 11, 1922 – March 31, 2010) was the first person to serve as press secretary for U.S. President Gerald Ford. Before being appointed press secretary, terHorst had been a newspaper reporter from Michigan who had covered Ford's career since 1948 (Wikipedia).
