University of Chicago law dean Geoffrey R. Stone.Geoffrey R. Stone (born 1946) is an American law professor. He is currently the Edward H. Levi Distinguished Service Professor of Law at the University of Chicago Law School. A member of the law faculty since 1973, Mr. Stone served as dean of the Law School (1987-1994) and Provost of the University of Chicago (1994-2002). After graduating from the University of Chicago Law School, Stone served as a law clerk to Judge J. Skelly Wright of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and then to Justice William J.
