1955 Press Photo Sen. McClellan Sen. McCarthy Shaking Hands Congress Session

In agreement on contempt citation, Sen. McClellan (Dem., Ark.) and Sen. McCarthy (right), (Rep., Wis.) shake hands at end of a session of the Senate Investigations committee. McClellan will succeed McCarthy as chairman of the committee. They agreed to cite for contempt of Congress a Massachusetts defense plant worker, Edwin Garfield, who failed to answer a subpoena.
