A fierce argument erupted in the bottom of the 7th inning between Expos coach Gene Mauch (L) and umpire John McCherry when San Diego's Nate Colburg hit the ball and ran to first. First baseman Mike Jorgensen received the ball from Expos catcher John Bateman to score the out. But McCherry called the hit foul. Mauch won the argument.
